2. "Don't judge a book by it's cover"
One of my best friend is not very beautiful but she has a big heart and is very understanding. The saying "do not judge a book by it's cover" is very true and a man should not be judge by appearances.
3. I think the second song is better than the first because is about comparing.
"The son want to be like his father"
"You think is something sweeter that you haven't even tried"
There are thousand other examplex.
Everyone just wrong in thinking that they are lower than others just comparing the materials.
Rares, you posted on WEEK 2 . Pay attention next time, please!
ReplyDeleteAt the first task you also had to create contexts with the synonyms of those 3 words. Please , do it !
2. One of my best friend is not very beautiful but she has a big heart and SHE is very understanding. The saying "do not judge a book by it's cover" is TRUE and a PERSON should not be judgeD by HER/ HIS APPEARANCE .
3.I think the second song is better than the first because IT USES COMPARISON.

"You think is something sweeter that you haven't even tried"
There are thousand other exampleS ( WHY HAVEN'T YOU WRITTEN MORE ? ).
Everyone just wrong in thinking that they are lower than others just comparing the materials. ( I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND THE IDEA , PLEASE RE-PHRASE IT BEING CLEARER!)

■ poignant=distressing=harrowing
The withered red rose was a poignant reminder of their love story.
Rachel’s health problems started after the harrowing experience of being raped.
The movie is based on a distressing story about two dogs who try to find their way back home.
■ corny=drab=tedious
The audience started yawning as the entertainer told one corny joke after another.
I feel so awful wearing the new school uniform – it’s too drab.
It was tedious work but they enjoyed each other's company.
■ cheesy=shoddy=lousy
I don’t know how he does it but he always succeeded in attracting some women’s attention with his cheesy pick up lines.
Mike has a heart of gold but he is often criticized because of the shoddy clothes he wears.
Most people consider reality shows to be lousy forms of entertainment.
2. "The grass is always greener on the other (side of the fence)"
■ Rachel’s job is so tedious. Besides the fact that she hates her job, her new boss is none other than her high school classmate that she hated the most. Rachel envied her back in high school because she was beautiful, rich and popular and she hates her now for having her own business. What Rachel doesn’t know is that behind that cheesy smile hides a distressing story. Actually, her classmate inherited the company from her ex-husband who died in a recent car accident. Moreover, she was pregnant when the accident happened but managed to survive while her husband and baby died. So, this company is not a blessing. In fact, it is a poignant reminder of her loved ones who tragically died. That just goes to show that many people are not entirely satisfied with what they have. Everyone wishes for something they don’t have but what they don’t realize is that often they already have so many perfect things in their lives (friends, partner or spouse, job, health. Truth is: you may not have an easy life, but it is your life and you have to make the most of it because the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence! This is a valuable saying to remind you to be satisfied with what you have, not to imagine that something else is better just because you can't have it. If you are lucky enough to have your freedom and your health, then I believe that anything is possible. Where there is a will, there is a way.
3.
■ I believe that both songs send valuable messages. On the one hand, the first songs says that “We all live under the same sky” which means we are all the same; there’s no need to compare yourself with others, you don’t know the story behind theirs and what they are going through. On the other hand, I think the refrain of the second song is more inspiring and explicit “The grass is always greener on the other side/ You think that something's sweeter that you haven't even tried”. Therefore, I tend to choose the second song as the one who best describes this proverb because you never know what happens behind closed doors. We all wear masks, sometimes the happiest people are the saddest ones.

:D ! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !
1. poignant - This break up is poignant for her because they've lived together for six years.
ReplyDeleteAgonising - This problem is agonising for me because I haven't understood math problems since I was little.
Hurtful - The book that I'm reading now it gives me a hurtful feeling.
Corny - My colleague always makes corny jokes with my friend.
Banal - The idea of the book was so banal that I couldn't finish it.
Boring - I don't want to see this movie, the story is so boring.
Cheesy - Obviously, she has just cheesy clothes because her mother doesn't care about how is she dressed.
Crappy - I don't want to pay less and buy a pair of crappy shoes.
Ropy - She likes the spotted dress despite that it is a little bit ropy.
2. Count you blessing
I always notice people that lust for other people's things or even for their lives. One of my friens was that kind. She always wanted a better life and things that she had seen on others. In her mind, her life was boring and miningless until we went to Katia's house. My friend admired Katia's life because she had a lot of money and she looked happy. But my friend desire for having Katia's life had disappeared when she found out her real life about her family. Katia's mother was not interested by her daughter and her father was aggressive because he was an alcoholic. That was the point when my friend stopped to lust for others lives.
3. I think that the first song fits better to the message because the main idea in this song is that if 'The grass is always greener on the other side' your life is wasted.

GENERALLY OK!
1.The end of the movie ‘Titanic’ was poignant and my eyes welled up in tears.
ReplyDeleteI think there are many ways of treatment without resorting to the painful and agonizing way of surgery.
It was an affecting moment when my sister saw her husband with her best friend.
I do not like Mike’s company..he always have the same corny jokes.
His life is boring..all he does is eat, sleep and work..I don’t understand him , he has to do something with his life.
She always has a banal outfit and she makes jokes about my clothes. It’s impolite.
Those movies I watched last week had some cheesy 3D effects, but they were still fun to watch with friends.
I’ve read only one poem by that author and it was crap.
When I redecorated my room ,I gave to poor children my toys and that crummy old teddy bear.
2.There are days in your life when something happens and that changes the rest of your life, be in a good or a bad way.In my case, it happend to be in a good way.
I remember it was a perfect autumn day , the sun was shinning and there was a slight breeze.
It was the first day of school for me, a new beginning and a very important chapter of my life. The schoolyard was full of students and teachers, of flowers and feelings.
It was the 1st grade and I was amazed at all the changes happening in my life.
My teacher started her speech like this:’ Some people judge others by the way they look ,thinking that this will help them to find out who the person really is.’At the moment, I didn’t understand at all.
I was scared and shy ..I looked at all my colleges and I saw only friendly faces..except one .It was an unusual girl with a strange look. When I first saw her I was more than surprised and I didn’t want to see that face again. The next day I found out that she was my classmate ..I was scared but I had to try to get used to her. I found her odd because of the expression of her face..always cold ,scared and shy.
My teacher, a very calm and understanding woman, placed me beside her.. As the months passed, I came to know her very well. She was a surprisingly kind , sincere, amazing and reliable girl .Since then, me and her became inseparable! She is my best friend and all my secrets are hers’, too.
With this experience I understood what my teacher meant in our firts day of school.
So,I can warn you: Don’judge a book by its cover!
3.I think that the second song is clearer allowing the message’’ The grass is always greener on the other side’’ than the first one. It refers to the fact that no matter what you have in life, what someone else has, always looks better. Basically the song shows us that what other people have is always going to look better than what you have. It’s about being jealous of other people things and never being satisfied with who you are and what you have. But don’t sacrifice everything and everyone trying to get a better life because you’re just going to be stuck wishing for what you had.
Corina

1. bitter- Schweppes has a bitter taste
ReplyDeletedisturbing- When I'm doing my English homework TV is disturbing me.
banal- This TV show is banal.
stupid- My deskmate is stupid.
inferior- I feel inferior to the math teacher.
trashy- I have a trashy necklace.
3. What I mean is that we think that the others are better than us, that they are more beautiful than us.
It's the same with the materials, "you think is something sweeter that you haven't tried", when you eat something or when you buy something and you like it you must think that it's the most beautiful or tasty thing.
When you're young you want to grow up, to become like your parents when they would like to be young like you, again.
I belive the message of the song is that you don't have to look at what others have and think that is better or bigger than yours but you have to think that you have something good, maybe even better.
